"the time is always right to do right"

CULTURE

At Forbes Hare, we are dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for our professionals.

We believe that diversity enhances our ability to provide exceptional legal services and promotes innovation, better decision making and broader perspectives.

PRO BONO

We donate our time and expertise to help those who otherwise would be unable to afford legal assistance. Our pro bono practice is an important part of the firm’s commitment to both the local community and the cause of justice in both the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.
Once accepted, pro bono cases are treated as importantly as commercial work within the firm. Our lawyers are credited for all time recorded on pro bono matters.

Examples of pro bono work we have undertaken include:

  • Habeas corpus applications and human rights matters;

  • A tort-inflicted catastrophic brain injury case;

  • Advising the family of a murdered businessman on company law rights;

  • Contesting a bank-mortgage repossession;

  • On behalf of a beneficiary, contesting a complex administration of an estate comprising (now) valuable Caribbean real estate;

  • Ad hoc employment and immigration matters;

  • Ad hoc advice to small business start ups.

All pro bono enquiries are considered on a case-by-case basis. If we are unable to assist, or may not be the most appropriate firm for a particular matter, we will try to recommend others who may be better placed.

As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community,

I understand the challenges of facing subtle forms of homophobia.

My journey has fueled my passion as a partner of Forbes Hare to advocate for a workplace where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work.

It's essential that our culture embraces all aspects of identity, allowing individuals to thrive without fear of judgment.
